Barton Community Band performed a free concert in St Mary's Church to help our young Tenor Horn player, Emily, raise funds for her World Challenge Expedition to Borneo in 2025.
Emily has to raise £4,295 (not including transport, specialist equipment and resources) to fund this once in a lifetime experience.
This trip is designed to develop life skills for the participants, as well as developing character and resilience, enabling them to grow and feel empowered to tackle life's challenges and reach their full potential.
Emily has been hard at work raising funds already in a number of ways and the band decided that they would like to help support with the fundraising.
We were delighted to see so many of you there and the atmosphere and feedback was amazing. More incredibly we're delighted to report back that Emily managed to raise a whopping £509.29 from this event which will go a long way to her target. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their generosity and kindness and support.
We were also wowed with another special presentation from our Flugel Horn player Helen, who undertook a Wing Walk for charity, raising money which was split between the wonderful charity Crohn's & Colitis and Emily's Borneo Expedition. Helen presented cheques for £865 to Kay and Emily respectively. What an incredibly fantastic achievement - Well done Helen!

A delicious lunch was provided by Burnett's General Store (Margaret's Shop) here in Barton.
We will be uploading pictures etc shortly, so watch this space!
